Prescription glasses
Previously, people first went to the ophthalmologist, who wrote a prescription for glasses and only then the optician came into the picture. Nowadays you only visit the ophthalmologist if the qualified optician or optometrist deems it necessary.
At Van der Geest Optiek we will help you through the whole process from A to Z. For eye tests an appointment is neccesary.
1. Choosing a pair of frames
Van der Geest Optics has an extensive collection of frames, are proud to have “the most beautiful models and colours”.
It is years of experience and the art of thinking along with the customer to advise the right choice in type of lenses, from mono-focal to multifocal, from sports glasses to sunglasses and so on. We can also help you with sports glasses or children’s glasses
2. Execution of the eye tests
An eye test by an optician may look like this:
- Anamnesis
- Vision (visual acuity) without correction
- Eye test, check for binocular imbalance
- Determination of vision with best correction
- Eye pressure measurement
If there is any doubt as a result of the anamnesis, vision or eye pressure, you will be referred to an eye doctor.
3. Glass consultation
After a pair of glasses is choosen and the results of the eye test are written down we wil (together with you) determite which lenses suit your needs the best.
We will keep your budget and chosen frames in mind to find a perfect match.
Repairs
Free lifetime service*
*Tighten loose screws, replacement of nose pads, adjusting the temples, adjustment of the ear tips and cleaning the glasses are free of charge. You can come whenever you want. That’s what we call the free lifetime service.
For other major repairs we need to see the frames/lenses in person to give you an indication of the price. We will always try to keep the costs as low as possible.
Transferring lenses from one to another frame.
Replacing new parts that need to be ordered.
Other major repairs that take a few hours or days.
Contact lenses
You will pay one fixed amount for the eye test(s) concerning contactlenses. This includes unlimited contactlens test sets and fittings until you are satisfied with your contactlenses. Once the perfect contactlens is found you will have to order at least one set with us. Most clients are so satisfied with our services that they stay with us for a very long time.
1. Execution of the eye tests
An eye test for contact lenses is slightly different than an eye test for prescription glasses since we also need to check if your eyes are suitable for contact lenses.
After we have enough information we will order a test set of contact lenses which we think will be suitable for your eyes.
2. Contact lens fitting
After a few days we will contact you to make an appointment for your first lens fitting. During this half hour we will train you how to put in, take out and preserve your contact lenses.
We will continue to give your these trainings until we are satisfied with your skills. When we trust that you have the skills to take care of your contact lenses, you will take them home and wear them a few hours per day for a week.
3. Contact lens checkup
After a week of wearing the test lenses you come by our shop for a check-up. We will do another eye measurement while you wear your contact lenses. By doing this we will check if the prescription need adjustments or not. We will also check the health of your eye to see if everything is still fine.
We will continue to loop these steps (1-2-3) until you are satisfied.
